Gerry Lougheed Sr. been in poor health since his wife, Margeurite, died in 2006. They had been married for 56 years. In her memory, the family established the Marguerite Lougheed Community Centre in a former church near the downtown area. The facility provides free rentals to non-profit, charitable and family celebrations.
Lougheed is survived by his two sons. Gerry Jr. and Geoffrey.
