Starting Lean: Business Model

(2 sessions, 4 hours each)

Entrepreneur’s Toolkit Workshops are experientialhands-on workshops facilitated by experienced entrepreneurs. The workshops offer ventures toolsmentoring and peer feedback to solve specific problems and develop essential business components.

In each four-hour session you will generate a deliverable that you will use frequently in the business development process.

In this two-part workshop series, we follow Steve Blank’s methodology and introduce startups to Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas and the analytical process required to validate their business model. The workshops are highly interactive and all participants will be able to design their own business model during the series.

Workshop Schedule

January 12,

12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Session 1 – Designing your business model

This session wil introduce participants to Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas and the key questions to consider when designing a business model.

Deliverable: A business model designed around the participant’s value proposition.

January 13,

9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Session 2 – Validating your business model

In this session, you will learn how to analyze external forces such as macro, industry, and competitive threats and opportunities, and how to implement your findings in your business model design.

Deliverable: A framework for validating your business model that analyzes external forces and key business model metrics.

 

 

Cost of Workshops

The Entrepreneur’s Toolkit Workshops cost $100 to attend. There are two different ticket types that can be purchased:

1.     ONE Client Deposit

Purchase this ticket if you are a client of a regional innovation centre (Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs). When prompted on the registration page, please list the regional centre of which you are a member and your current advisor’s name. You will be refunded your full ticket price at the end of the workshop series.

2.     General Attendance Fee

Purchase this ticket if you are not currently a member of a regional innovation centre. You will receive a 10% discount on your ticket price at the end of the workshop series.

**If you are unable to attend a workshop session, please let us know four business days in advance. We regret that failure to do so may result in the loss of your deposit.

**The post-workshop survey must be completed within four days of the last day of a workshop series for a registration deposit or discount to be refunded.
