CONFESSIONS OF A REDHEADED COFFEE SHOP GIRL @ STC

An anthropology graduate is stuck working as a barista. Rather than let her ‘underemployment get her down, she studies her only available subjects: the customers in her coffee shop.

Rebecca is an actor, singer and writer based in Toronto. She’s worked with a variety of companies across Canada and the US in theatre, film and television. She starred in the Brain Power Studios feature film Forest Fairies (to be released in 2016 on Netflix) and provided voices for principle characters in the animated feature The Fast And The Furriest (Brain Power Studios).

Confessions of a Redheaded Coffeeshop Girl, a solo show she created & stars in (alongside Musical Director & cabaret partner Quinton Naughton on keys) premièred in Toronto, toured the Canadian and US Fringe circuit garnering multiple awards, critical acclaim, a profile on Global TV, and a live taping in front of a studio audience for Bell TV’s OnStage On Demand.The show opened the 2015 summer season at the Rose Theatre, Brampton, ON, Rebecca’s home town. Adventures of a Redheaded Coffeeshop Girl, the follow-up to Confessions…, premièred at the 2015 Toronto Fringe Festival to critical success, and continued Rebecca’s run of sold out Fringe festivals – a feat which continued with the sold-out run of her most recent show From Judy To Bette: The Stars of Old Hollywood at the Next Stage Theatre Festival in 2016.

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2015 marked Rebecca’s début outside North America at the prestigious Gilded Balloon Teviot. The run garnered 5-star reviews, sold out the full run and had a show added due to popular demand, and was nominated for the Brighton Fringe Award for Excellence – one of ten nominations out of 3,400 shows. She was offered a return slot, and will be back at the Gilded Balloon Teviot in the Sportsman’s venue with Adventures of a Redheaded Coffeeshop Girl in 2016.

(World Premiere, New Orleans), Lorraine in Bat Boy: The Musical (Gladstone Theatre), Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Rose Theatre) The Narrator in Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat  LOT), Alison in Pinkalicious(Canadian Tour). A mainstay of the Canadian cabaret scene, her credits include: PaulHutcheson’s Canuck Cabaret (NYC), Penny’s Mic (NYC), The Purple Room (Winnipeg Artist Series), Mark Cassius’ 70’s Poparet and is a Songbook Series regular at Theatre Passe-Muraille & a featured Blues singer in the acclaimed Life, Death and the Blues show.  Her regular shows happen throughout the year ­at Statler’s Piano Bar in Toronto.  @rebeccaperry21
